Pelican CU is alerting members to a recent data incident at a company called Marquis Software Solutions (Marquis). Marquis is a marketing and compliance software and services provider that provides services to many financial institutions, including Pelican CU.
In August 2025, Marquis notified us of a network outage that it later identified as a data security incident on its network. On October 27, 2025, Marquis provided us with an update on its investigation and informed us that an unauthorized third party potentially viewed or copied certain files on the Marquis network that contained some of our members’ personal information. The information at-issue varied by member but may have included members’ names along with dates of birth, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, financial account numbers and/or payment card data.
Since learning about the incident, we have been working with Marquis to notify members and arrange complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. Marquis is in the process of mailing notification letters to our members whose information was involved in the incident and for whom we have a valid mailing address.
To date, we are not aware of anyone’s information having been misused in connection with the incident; nevertheless, we recommend that members remain vigilant to protect against potential fraud and/or identity theft by, among other things, reviewing their account statements, monitoring their credit reports closely, and notifying their financial institutions if unusual activity is detected. Individuals should also promptly report any fraudulent activity or suspected identity theft to proper law enforcement authorities, including the police and their state’s attorney general. Individuals may also wish to review the tips provided by the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) on fraud alerts, security/credit freezes and steps that they can take to avoid identity theft.
